Photos for Media, Marketing and Promotion

Someday, I might be rich enough to take my professional photographer along on my exquisite, all-inclusive vacation to capture action shots of me in my 4-inch heels and evening dress framed by a mind-blowing tropical sunset. For now, these are the photos that capture the actual me. Feel free to use any of them in your promotional materials. (These are thumbnail sized; actual files are larger.)

Long Biography

One of Evelyn Fielding’s superpowers is inspiring sexual violence survivors to break emotional bad habits and leave trauma in the past. All survivors are brave, and all deserve to experience what is beyond brave: healing and wholeness despite the bad things that happened. In her mid-40s, she had a wakeup call that her unhappy life of chaos, broken relationships and depression started at age 5 when she was molested by her friend’s father, and continued through two rapes as an adult. She has distilled her healing process into a framework that covers how trauma changes our brains, why stuck trauma controls our present-moment lives, and what to do about it. Evelyn has done many brave things in her life: raised a good kid as a single parent, built her own house (twice), created a successful 16-year second marriage, and a lot of solo camping.

Evelyn’s Speaker Introduction

Evelyn Fielding is fiercely committed to guiding survivors of sexual violence to untangle from stories of trauma and achieve self-compassion, so they can move forward on their healing journeys.

Her path to become an author, speaker and advocate became clear as she struggled with her own self-improvement. She had all the self-help books and practiced many different healing techniques; she talked about her problems with counselors.

But she didn’t face her experiences with sexual violence directly, and that missing piece kept her blocked from true healing. Seeing her messy life from the point of view of unhealed emotions and memories brought all her work together. She transformed from being a brave survivor into the healer she is today.

Evelyn is practical, non-technical, inspirational and sometimes funny. What truly lights her heart on fire is the lasting impact of community conversations. Sexual violence is shameful and secretive. Healing is joyful and fulfilling. Evelyn’s mission is to shout the message that everyone, every human on the planet, is affected by this trauma, and all of us deserve to heal.

Sample Conversations

To help things go smoothly for podcast and summit hosts, I’ve created three signature conversations. Two are of special interest to health and wellness audiences and focus the discussion on hidden ways trauma may still affect listeners. The third opens a community conversation, reduces fear and shame around the topic, and builds ally skills so we can talk more openly about difficult ideas.

The #1 question I love to be asked to start any conversation: Evelyn, why do you say, “the bad things that happened to you” and “the person who harmed you”? Why not just call it what it is: rape, abuse, offender, perpetrator?

Relatable Facts About Evelyn

Five things about me and my experience that might surprise and delight you—while serving in this work together:

  • The very first poem I wrote down at the age of 12 was published in a statewide youth poetry contest. That was also my first experience with public speaking, as I read the poem aloud to a roomful of strangers after receiving my award.
  • My favorite public speaking experiences include holding the rapt attention of 5-6-year-olds while teaching them body safety.
  • I built my own home from the foundation up including framing, plumbing, wiring, cabinets, flooring, roofing and all the details. I’m not allowed to hang and mud drywall, however.
  • I have many hobbies like making maple syrup and raising backyard chickens. I also love to forage wild foods, especially mushrooms.
  • My idea of the ultimate vacation is participating in Indigenous-led water walk ceremonies, which are relay walks of many hundreds of miles to heal and protect rivers and lakes across the United States.
