Why This Journaling Course Might Not Work for You

If you feel any of these blocks (or others), request a self-care session with Evelyn after subscribing to the Beyond Brave Community so you can get strategies, ongoing suggestions and guidance.

What if I don’t have time and fall behind? This is a process with a beginning and conclusion. You commit to attend live sessions or watch the replays, and show up for yourself on YOUR OWN TIMELINE. You can’t “fall behind” if you are making progress.

How safe is this group? This is NOT Facebook. Everyone is vetted before joining. The Dear You space is a private group within the Beyond Brave gated community. Direct messages are private between the people messaging. You never have to show your face or name on Zoom calls. We also try to not share the details of our trauma in the group, and don’t name the people who harmed us. Take your time to build trust with members of the community.

Will I be criticized or corrected? Group members don’t give advice, but do speak about our personal experiences. Feedback is meant with love and acceptance first. Everything is a growth opportunity.

I don’t like to journal because…

… I tried it in the past and it didn’t work. Journaling is a technique. Just writing down thoughts and feelings is not transformational all by itself–recording insights, looking for patterns, and using a journal as accountability lead to healing. And, using a structured journal technique gets you results a whole lot faster.

… I’m not a writer. Journaling is different from “writing” and nobody will check your spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. It’s a record of your thoughts and feelings as you move through the Dear You process, and you absolutely don’t need to be a writer to write down the process. In fact, there are several solutions for those who choose not to write at all!

… I’m worried someone will see my journal. This is a very real fear, and there are solutions. The best solution is for Evelyn to create a completely private space just for you in the Beyond Brave Community. Access is protected by your password, and the private space within the private space is one more layer of protection. If this fear keeps you from healing, request a coaching session with Evelyn when you join and we’ll work together to give you security.

I don’t have the money for this. Money scholarships are available. You just have to ask.

Who Is Leading This Course?

One of Evelyn Fielding’s superpowers is inspiring trauma and grief survivors to break emotional bad habits and leave trauma in the past. All survivors are brave, and all deserve to experience what is beyond brave: healing and wholeness despite the bad things that happened.

Evelyn has an MFA degree and has worked as a sexual assault advocate for more than 15 years. She’s the creator of dozens of courses and is a best-selling author. She’s spoken to small and large audiences, but her favorite speaking gig is teaching Body Safety to five-year-olds.

Most of all, Evelyn is on a mission to help survivors lead better lives, whatever that means for each individual.

Jake Nordlund is unique among trauma healers: He is a secondary survivor of trauma, and he is a good man. He blends kindness with humor, acceptance with accountability, and perspective with loving insight into the challenges survivors face each day.

His specialty is healing addiction, and his experience is both personal and professional. Jake holds a deep reservoir of skills and tools, and invites people to simplify their efforts and seek a WIN in every situation. Relying on the basics heals the body, mind, emotions and spirit of complex trauma.

In his spare time, Jake enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and cutting firewood. He especially likes to have long conversations with his dog, Lucy, and his wife, Evelyn.

See you on the other side!
