Why Is Grounding Important?

Have you ever sat down on your break at work and felt like you were vibrating because everything today is going too fast?

Have you ever lost your temper because you couldn’t handle one more demand from one more person?

Have you ever wanted to escape from your life? If you could have just one hour, or one weekend, or one forever to yourself, you would feel so much better?

Practicing intentional grounding can help stop the madness. You can slow down. You can say “no” with gentleness. You can make calm decisions about your life and what you want out of it.

You may feel stuck in your situation, as though you “have to” do what you do because nobody else will take care of whatever. You may think you’ll feel better after something begins or ends, after something outside of you happens.

You can feel better now. You can sleep better tonight and wake up more rested tomorrow. You can let go of items on your to-do list this week. A month from now you could enjoy your job and smile more at your loved ones.

And how nice would that be?

Who knows? Years from now you could look around at your satisfying life and think, “Ugh. I remember when I was mad all the time and running around like a crazy person. So glad I don’t do that anymore.”

Practicing intentional grounding means you deliberately draw strength from the center of the earth, and mindfully send your negative feelings to the center of the earth. Once you’ve practiced, you can ground yourself in a matter of seconds without stopping your activity.

It works for people of all genders and income levels. It works for people with mental health diagnoses and active addictions. It works for people of all ages, although little kids might get distracted easily.

We use a guided meditation to teach intentional grounding. There are other ways to learn the method, but our guided meditation is a complete practice with all the basic elements. If you can imagine a calmer, more focused life, you can do intentional grounding.
